Artist Statement
I have always had a wandering eye and a unique perspective, which has proved perfect for photography. I found a passion for taking pictures at a young age and as I’ve grown up, that passion turned into a need to capture everything around me—the people I come in contact with, the places I walk through, and the moments that mean something.
Through my studies in Fine Art, I have begun to develop a more specific aesthetic for what it is I want to portray in my photographs. Portraiture is my favorite form of photography, whether it be candid or posed, I strive to use people to tell a story.
My second love, fashion, is the main theme of my work. That wandering eye I spoke of applies to trends, styles, and movements as well. I am obsessively interested in the fashion world and all it has to offer, and photographing its progress has become a top priority. I tend to go for a more simple composition, really focusing on the model and the product she is selling. I feel that facial expression and body language say it all and are what can get across the message I want to say.
My primary form of photography is digital, however I do work with film in the dark room on occasion. After taking all the photos I need, I then use the Adobe Creative Suite to edit and perfect those photos.
I work every day to enhance my portfolio and stay true to the aesthetic that I love and the beautiful things I want to expose. The intensity and fast paced flow of the fashion industry is thrilling and the act of getting it all in my camera lens is fulfilling.
